Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King John II Casimir Vasa facing right, with flowing hair rendered in a baroque style. The portrait fills much of the field and is executed in relatively high relief typical of hammered copper coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, reading IOAN CAS REX followed by the mint initials T.L.B., with numerous die varieties recorded exhibiting inverted letters and ligatures. The legend is separated from the bust by the coin's rim.
