Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King John II Casimir Vasa facing right, with long flowing hair rendered in a baroque style. The royal portrait occupies the central field, depicted with characteristic beard and moustache. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, reading IOAN CAS REX, identifying the monarch as Johannes Casimirus Rex. The lettering is distributed around the full circumference of the coin in slightly irregular spacing, as typical of hammered coinage of this period.
