Obverse description Central field bears the arms of the Crown of Poland: a displayed eagle with spread wings, head turned to the right, set within a shield surmounted by a royal cross. The eagle is rendered in a bold, late-medieval Gothic style characteristic of hammered coinage of the Jagiellonian period. A circular legend in Gothic uncial script runs along the periphery, separated from the central device by a beaded or linear inner border. The overall composition is typical of royal Polish coinage issued in the name of Casimir IV Jagiellon.
