Obverse description Central field features the Polish royal eagle displayed, with wings spread and head turned to the right, rendered in the late Gothic-early Renaissance hammered style typical of Polish-Prussian coinage of the period. The eagle is contained within a plain inner circle. Surrounding the inner circle, a Latin legend in Roman capitals reads: SIGIS P REX POLO DO PRVSSIE, separated by star-shaped stops, attributing the coin to Sigismund I, King of Poland and Lord of Prussia. A rosette or floral ornament appears at the legend's commencement above the eagle's head.
