Obverse description Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic Kufic inscription arranged in horizontal registers within a plain inner circle, conveying the Islamic profession of faith (Shahada). The field inscription is enclosed by a beaded inner border and surrounded by a marginal legend in Arabic script continuing around the periphery within a second beaded outer border. The overall composition is characteristic of Zaydi Rassid hammered silver coinage, with densely packed angular script filling the flan.
