Obverse description Circular Latin legend surrounding a prominent cross pattée at centre, with the inscription +EHVLT arranged around the arms of the cross. The die-cut lettering is characteristic of the degraded Anglo-Saxon styca series, with broadly formed capital letters set within the field. The flan is irregular and the strike slightly off-centre, as typical of this hammered base-metal issue. A pelleted border is partially visible at the rim.
