| Obverse description | A rampant lion facing left with head turned to the right, depicted in high relief in the field, supporting a large quartered heraldic shield bearing the arms of Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy and Gelderland. The shield is elaborately detailed with the arms of Burgundy, Brabant, and Gelderland quarters. The surrounding circular legend is rendered in Gothic uncial script and separated by pellets and a fleur-de-lis stop, enclosed within a beaded inner border. |
