| Obverse description | Central device comprising the crowned municipal coat of arms of Nijmegen, depicting a double-headed eagle displayed with a small escutcheon on its breast bearing a double-tailed lion rampant to the right. The crowned shield is set within the coin field and enclosed by two concentric beaded circles between which the Latin legend is arranged. The overall style is characteristic of mid-sixteenth-century Low Countries hammered billon coinage. |
