Reverse description Within a laurel wreath, a bound bundle of arrows — the fasces-like symbol of the United Provinces — rises prominently from the centre of the field, its shafts fanning outward and bound at the middle with a cord. Flanking the bundle at either side are the numeral '1' to the left and the letter 'S' to the right, denoting the denomination of one Stuiver, the value appearing within the arc of the bow formed by the binding. The wreath encloses the entire design, consistent with the typology of Dutch provincial bezemstuivers of this period.
