Obverse description The abbreviated Latin province name TRANSISULANIA is rendered in three lines across the field, reading TRAS / ISVLA / NIA, enclosed within a decorative wreath of leaves and branches. The date of issue appears below the inscription in the lower portion of the field, within the wreath border. The lettering is characteristic of early seventeenth-century Dutch hammered coinage, with irregular but bold capital characters. The entire design is contained within the natural boundary formed by the wreath, which extends to the coin's irregular flan edge.
