| Obverse description | Central device depicts a three-towered castle gate rendered in stylized Gothic fashion, with a prominent central keep flanked by two lateral towers, all set within a beaded inner circle. The castle facade shows an arched doorway and decorative fenestration typical of medieval Brabantine coinage. The surrounding legend, separated from the central device by the beaded border, reads in uncial Latin script. The overall composition is characteristic of the Brussels sterling type issued under Duke John III, closely emulating the English sterling tradition adapted for Brabantine use. |
