Obverse description Facing Boeotian shield rendered in high relief at center, its characteristic curved cutouts at left and right clearly delineated within a raised circular border. The convex boss of the shield dominates the field, with the scalloped edges of the cutouts finely incised. The design is typical of the Boeotian federal coinage, the shield serving as the emblematic device of the Boeotian League. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, as characteristic of hammered silver issues of this period.
