| Obverse description | Highly schematized and fragmented head of Apollo, reduced to a series of abstract curvilinear and geometric elements, rendered in the characteristic Late Celtic disintegration style. The design is largely unrecognizable as a figurative portrait, consisting of disconnected pellets, arcs, and lenticular forms dispersed across the field. An epsilon-form symbol is incorporated within the design, a diagnostic feature of this Nervian series. The die work is bold but stylistically abstracted far beyond its Macedonian prototype. No border or exergual line is present. |
