| Obverse description | Helmeted head of Athena facing right, wearing a Corinthian-style helmet adorned with a griffon leaping right on the bowl. The goddess's flowing locks cascade from beneath the helmet in fine, wavy strands rendered with high artistic quality. The facial features are finely modeled in the Hellenistic tradition, with a strong profile, defined nose, and slightly parted lips. The cheek guards of the helmet frame the face elegantly, and the crest of the helmet extends off the flan. The flan is slightly irregular, as typical of hammered gold issues of this period. |

| Reverse description | Nike, the winged goddess of victory, standing left in flowing drapery, extending her right arm to crown with a wreath and holding a ship's stylis (naval scepter) in her left hand. The legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field, maintaining the Alexandrine coinage tradition continued under Seleucus I. The letters MI appear in the outer left field as a mint control mark, and a monogram is placed within a wreath in the inner left field. The composition is balanced and confident, consistent with the high-quality engraving associated with the Babylon mint. |
