| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of Sauromates II facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic-Roman provincial style with flowing hair and layered drapery visible at the shoulder. The effigy is boldly struck in high relief and occupies the central field. A Greek royal legend encircles the bust along the periphery, reading ΒΑϹΙΛΕΩϹ ϹΑΥΡΟΜΑΤΟΥ, identifying the king by title and name. The entire design is framed by a border of beads. |
