Obverse description Diademed and draped bust of King Sauromates II facing right, rendered in the local Bosporan style with flowing hair and beard. The effigy displays a prominent diadem and layered drapery over the shoulder. A circular Greek legend surrounds the portrait within a beaded border, reading ΒΑϹΙΛΕΩϹ ϹΑΥΡΟΜAΤΟΥ, identifying the issuing monarch. The workmanship reflects the hybrid Greco-barbarian artistic tradition characteristic of Bosporan royal coinage of the late 2nd century AD.
