Obverse description Diademed and draped bust of Bosporan king Sauromates I facing right, rendered in a Hellenistic portrait style with flowing hair secured by a diadem. The effigy displays a draped shoulder with folds rendered in relief. A circular Greek legend surrounds the portrait within a dotted border, reading ΒΑCΙΛΕΩC CΑΥΡΟΜΑΤΟΥ (of King Sauromates), disposed around the periphery of the flan.
