Obverse description Diademed and draped bust of King Rhoemetalces facing right, with flowing wavy hair and a short beard, the effigy rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition. The royal diadem is clearly visible binding the hair above the brow. A symbol — either a club or sword — appears in the field before the bust. The encircling Greek legend reads ΒΑϹΙΛΕΩϹ ΡΟΙΜΗΤΑΛΚΟΥ, distributed around the portrait within a beaded border.
