Obverse description Diademed and draped bust of King Rhescuporis V facing right, rendered in the late Bosporan style with boldly modelled features. The royal diadem is visible above the brow, and the drapery is indicated across the truncation of the shoulder. The encircling Greek legend runs along the outer border of the flan, naming the king in the genitive case. The portrait exhibits the characteristic schematic treatment of Bosporan royal coinage of the mid-third century AD, with strong linear engraving of facial features.
