Reverse description A shallow incuse square frames a linear inner square enclosing a grapevine with four pendant bunches of grapes, emblematic of Maroneia's celebrated wine production. In the angles or border of the design, either an ivy leaf or a Boeotian shield appears as a supplementary symbol. The magistrate's name is inscribed around the central motif within the incuse square, identifying the issuing authority. The entire reverse design is set within a broad, shallow incuse square in the hammered tradition of Thracian coinage.
