| Obverse description | Free horse prancing to left in high relief, with elaborately rendered mane and muscular body; the animal is depicted mid-stride with forelegs raised, trailing loose reins. The horse's anatomy is rendered with considerable artistic skill characteristic of late Archaic to early Classical Greek coinage. The field is plain and unlettered, with the horse occupying the full flan. No inscription appears on the obverse. |
