| Obverse description | Laureate head of Apollo facing right, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with idealized youthful features. The hair is elaborately dressed in tight curls and waves drawn back from the face and bound with a laurel wreath, with loose locks falling behind the neck. The modeling of the cheek, chin, and eye is of high artistic quality, characteristic of the Amphipolis mint's skilled engravers. The portrait fills the field in high relief against a plain, smooth background. |

| Reverse description | Biga (two-horse chariot) racing to the right at full gallop, driven by a charioteer who leans forward and raises a kentron (goad) aloft in his right hand. The horses are rendered with dynamic energy, their forelegs extended and manes streaming. The large spoked chariot wheel is visible beneath the figures. The inscription ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ appears in the exergue in Greek letters, with a monogram or control mark (epsilon, Ε) visible in the lower field to the right of the horses. |
