| Reverse description | A charioteer, clad in a long chiton, drives a fast biga (two-horse chariot) to the right, holding a kentron (goad) in his extended right hand and the reins gathered in his left hand. The horses are depicted in full gallop, conveying dynamic movement characteristic of the finest Macedonian die-cutting. Below the horses in the exergue area, a kantharos (wine cup) serves as a control symbol. The Greek legend ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ runs along the upper field, attributing the issue to Philip, continuing the posthumous coinage tradition of Philip II maintained under Philip III Arrhidaeus. |
