Reverse description An elegant Boeotian oinochoe (wine amphora) with volute handles depicted in fine relief at center, rendered with careful attention to the vessel's elegant neck, body, and foot. To the left and right of the amphora, the magistrate's ethnic inscription ΠΕ-ΛΙ is disposed in Greek letters across the field, identifying the issuing magistrate Pelis. The design is set within a plain circular border on an otherwise unadorned field. The amphora type is characteristic of Theban silver staters issued under named magistrates during the Boeotian confederacy's ascendancy in the late 370s to 360s BC.
