Obverse description Boeotian shield depicted facing, rendered in high relief with characteristic incurved sides and two lateral cutouts, all contained within a raised circular border. The convex surface of the shield displays the distinctive concave indentations at left and right, faithfully reproducing the form of the traditional Boeotian pelte. The flan is slightly irregular, as is typical of hand-struck issues of this period. The design is executed in a bold, plastic style characteristic of Theban silver coinage of the early fourth century BC.
