Reverse description A lion, striding to the left, attacks a bull which is brought to its knees in a dynamic predator-prey composition filling the entire field. The bull's head is turned back toward the lion in a scene of vigorous naturalistic energy typical of Achaemenid-era Cilician coinage. An Aramaic legend reading 'MZDY' (Mazaeus) appears in the upper field above the group, within a rope or cable border. The rendering of musculature on both animals is accomplished with considerable artistic skill.
