Obverse description Baaltars, the supreme deity of Tarsus, seated facing left on a throne with lion-leg supports, his muscular torso bare and his lower body draped. He holds a long sceptre surmounted by an ear of grain in his extended right hand, and rests his left hand on the throne arm. An eagle stands to the left in the field. Aramaic legend appears to the right of the deity in the field.
