| Obverse description | Lion walking right within a shallow incuse square border, rendered in the archaic Greek artistic style characteristic of early Lycian coinage. The mane is depicted with deeply cut radiating lines, and the musculature of the haunches and forelegs is boldly articulated. The figure occupies nearly the full field of the flan. The overall treatment reflects the strong influence of East Greek die-cutting tradition as mediated through Achaemenid-period Lycian workshops. |
