Reverse description A nude male figure, identified as Apollo, stands facing in three-quarter view, his body turned slightly to the right. He rests his left arm on a tall laurel or olive tree rising from the ground beside him, while a deer or stag stands before him to the left, its head turned back toward the god. The reverse legend, naming the magistrate Kallianaktos, is distributed in two vertical columns flanking the central figural group within a square incuse punch. The scene is rendered in bold high relief characteristic of the skilled die-engravers of Abdera during the mid-fourth century BC.
