Obverse description Laureate head of Apollo facing right, rendered in the idealised Hellenistic style with finely detailed curling hair bound by a laurel wreath. The youthful, clean-shaven visage displays softly modelled facial features characteristic of the high-quality die work associated with the Pella mint. The portrait occupies the full coin field with no legend or border.

Reverse description A charioteer (biga driver) depicted in right-facing profile, driving a two-horse chariot with both horses shown rearing vigorously. The charioteer holds the reins in his left hand and a goad (kentron) in his right. Below the horses in the exergue area, a thunderbolt symbol serves as a mint or control mark. The ethnic legend ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ appears in the field, identifying the coin as issued in the name of Philip II.
