| Obverse description | Diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great facing right, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with luxuriant, tousled curls framing the face. A prominent ram's horn of Ammon curves above the ear, denoting Alexander's divine association with Zeus-Ammon. The diadem is tied behind the head, its ends visible amid the flowing locks. The portrait displays idealized, youthful features with a strong profile, boldly struck in high relief against a plain field. |

| Reverse description | Athena Nikephoros enthroned left, depicted in a stately, frontal-seated posture with her left arm resting upon a large shield at her side. A transverse spear rises diagonally behind her into the upper field. She holds Nike, the goddess of victory, in her extended right hand. The Greek royal legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ runs along the right and left fields respectively. A monogram appears to the inner left of the throne, the civic letters ΒΥ (Byzantion) are inscribed below the throne, and an ornate trident — the civic badge of Byzantion — occupies the exergue. |
