| Obverse description | Helmeted head of Athena in right profile, wearing a Corinthian helmet with upturned cheek guards and a prominent horsehair crest, the bowl decorated with a coiled serpent above the neck guard. The goddess's facial features are rendered with fine Hellenistic naturalism, her flowing locks of hair escaping beneath the helmet and cascading to the neckline. The flan displays the characteristic slightly convex relief typical of the Macedonian gold stater series, with the portrait filling the field in bold, high relief. |
