Obverse description Head of Athena facing right, wearing a crested Corinthian helmet adorned with a coiled serpent on the bowl and decorated cheek guards pushed back. The goddess's hair falls in loose locks beneath the helmet rim, rendered in fine Hellenistic style. The portrait is bold and high-relief, characteristic of the refined die-cutting tradition of Alexander III's monetary coinage. The field is plain and unadorned, with no legend on the obverse.

Reverse description Nike standing facing left, her large wings spread upward and outward, depicted in three-quarter view with fine drapery flowing from her body. She holds a naval standard or stylis in her right hand and a wreath in her extended left hand, symbolizing victory. To the left field, a wreath encircles a monogram (M with a star beneath), serving as a mint or magistrate control mark. The legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs downward along the right field. In the lower field, a small dolphin or thunderbolt symbol serves as an additional control mark.
