| Reverse description | A recumbent goat or deer facing right, lying upon a ground line composed of a row of pellets, within an incuse square or shallow concave field. Above the animal, Cypriot syllabic signs appear in the upper field, while a Greek alphabetic inscription reading EV (for Evagoras) is placed below the ground line. A palm tree or branch is visible in the upper right field, serving as a symbol of Salamis. The composition is bold and well-centered, reflecting the strong Phoenician and Greek artistic influences present in Cypriot numismatic art of the early fourth century BC. |
