Obverse description Central Dobunnic emblem rendered in stylised Celtic fashion, depicting a vertical tree-like device with five pairs of lateral branches radiating symmetrically from a central spine, terminating at the base in a small pellet or bud. The design is boldly struck in relief against a plain, irregular flan typical of late Iron Age British coinage. The composition is geometric and highly schematic, reflecting the abstract artistic tradition of the Dobunni tribal coinage.
