Obverse description A horse prancing or galloping to the right, rendered in bold relief with vigorous, naturalistic modeling characteristic of Thracian coinage of the fourth century BC. The animal's forelegs are raised and its hindquarters are lowered in a dynamic pose. The field is plain and unadorned, with no legend present. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, consistent with hammered production of the period.

Reverse description Central field occupied by a vine with multiple heavy bunches of grapes hanging from arching branches, all enclosed within a linear square frame — the characteristic incuse square of Maroneia's coinage. The legend ΕΠΙ is inscribed horizontally above the frame, and ΒΟΥΤΑ appears below the frame, identifying the magistrate Bouta under whose authority the coin was issued. To the left of the frame stands a kantharos (wine cup) on a stepped base, and to the right a draped male figure, likely Dionysos, is partially visible, consistent with the Dionysiac iconographic program of Maroneian staters. The overall composition is carefully arranged within the incuse square, reflecting the mature civic coinage style of the Thracian city.
