| Obverse description | Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in a Hellenistic portrait style with short, wavy hair swept across the forehead. The effigy displays a youthful, idealized physiognomy consistent with early imperial portraiture as adopted in the Bosporan royal coinage. No legend or inscription appears on the obverse field. The portrait is set within a raised circular border, occupying the full breadth of the flan. The modelling of the facial features is bold and well-articulated for a hammered gold issue. |
