Obverse description Bare head of Athena facing right, rendered in fine high relief in the Hellenistic style, wearing a Corinthian helmet pushed back on the crown of the head; the helmet bowl is adorned with a coiled serpent on the cheekpiece, and the neck guard is visible above flowing locks of hair that cascade behind the neck. The facial features are finely modeled with a strong profile, prominent nose, and slightly parted lips. The hair is rendered in wavy, naturalistic strands typical of early Hellenistic die-cutting.
