Reverse description Nike, the winged goddess of victory, stands facing left in three-quarter view, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with detailed feathered wings spread behind her. She is draped in a flowing chiton and extends her right hand forward offering a laurel wreath, while her left hand holds a stylis (ship's stern ornament). A dove is depicted at her feet. The two-line Greek inscription ΑΜΑΣΤΡΙΟΣ / ΒΑΣΙΛΙΣΣΗΣ (of Queen Amastris) is distributed in the field, reading right to left on the left side and left to right on the right side, identifying this stater as an issue of Queen Amastris of Paphlagonia.
