Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena facing right, portrayed in high relief with fine Hellenistic artistry. The goddess wears a Corinthian helmet pushed back on her head, adorned with a prominent upswept crest and richly detailed cheek guards. Flowing locks of hair emerge beneath the helmet, rendered in carefully engraved wavy strands falling about the neck. The facial features are finely modelled, conveying the idealized classical profile characteristic of Macedonian royal coinage of the late 4th century BC. The field is plain, with no inscription on this side.
