Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena facing right, depicted in fine high relief with naturalistic modelling characteristic of late Classical Greek coinage. The goddess wears a Corinthian helmet pushed back on the head, richly adorned with a coiled serpent on the bowl and a decorative crest. Long wavy locks of hair fall beneath the helmet onto the neck and shoulders. The portrait is rendered with exceptional artistry, the facial features showing a refined profile with a straight nose and parted lips. No legend appears in the field.
