| Reverse description | A deep quadripartite incuse square dominates the reverse field, divided by a raised cruciform ridge into four recessed triangular compartments of unequal depth, characteristic of early Thraco-Macedonian hammered coinage. The incuse is irregularly struck, with the intersecting ridges offset slightly from center, reflecting the hand-crafted nature of the punched die technique. The surrounding flan surface is plain and unadorned, with no legend, symbol, or additional device present. This simple mill-mark reverse is typical of the earliest staters attributed to Dikaia. |
