Reverse description Shallow incuse square punch of quadripartite design, divided by a raised central horizontal bar into two registers, each subdivided by diagonal ridges producing a irregular granular texture within the recessed compartments. This type of mill-sail or compartmented incuse is characteristic of early Archaic electrum staters from the Hellespont region, serving as the anvil mark from the reverse punch used in the hammered striking process. The surrounding field is broad, flat, and uninscribed.
