Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena in right profile, rendered in fine high relief with carefully detailed features. The goddess wears a crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on her head, its tall plume swept dramatically to the left and decorated with incised striations. Long wavy locks of hair fall freely behind the neck, and a pearl earring is visible at the ear. The modeling of the face is accomplished and naturalistic, characteristic of the skilled Cilician die-engravers of the mid-fourth century BC.
