Obverse description Nude ephebe depicted in dynamic profile to left, performing the kalpé — an equestrian race in which the rider dismounts and runs alongside his horse. The youth grasps the reins with one hand while wielding a whip in his left, his body rendered with careful anatomical attention characteristic of Cilician die-cutting of the Classical period. The galloping horse is shown in full stride to left, its musculature boldly modeled in high relief.
