Obverse description Youthful laureate head of Apollo facing right, rendered in fine late Classical style with flowing, elaborately engraved long locks cascading over the neck and shoulder. The laurel wreath is depicted with prominent leaves and berries set above the brow, framing a delicately modelled face with a straight nose, slightly parted lips, and a subtly idealized physiognomy characteristic of South Italian die-cutting of the mid-fourth century BC. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, with the bust occupying nearly the full field.
