Obverse description Laureate head of Hera facing right, her hair elaborately dressed and bound with a wreath of olive or floral ornaments, rendered in fine archaic-to-early classical Greek style. The facial features are delicately modeled with a serene expression, the hair falling in tightly curled locks behind the neck. The legend HPAΛ appears partially along the upper field, referencing the sanctuary of Hera at Olympia. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, characteristic of hand-struck coinage of the period.
