| Reverse description | A quadripartite incuse square divided into four recessed compartments by raised ridges meeting at the center, forming a windmill or swastika-like pattern typical of archaic Kyzikene electrum staters. The incuse is deeply punched and irregular in outline, characteristic of the hammered technique employed for early Greek electrum coinage. The surfaces within each quadrant are rough and uneven, reflecting the primitive die work of the period. No legend or subsidiary devices are present. The overall impression is that of a single large punch mark subdivided by a cross bar. |
