| Obverse description | Pegasos, the winged horse of Corinthian mythology, depicted in left-facing profile in a prancing pose, with large detailed wings spread above its back. The creature is rendered in high relief with fine archaic naturalism, its muscular foreleg raised and hind legs extended as if in mid-stride. Beneath the body, in the lower field, appears the Corinthian koppa (Ϙ), the city's mint control mark, positioned on a ground line. The composition fills the flan with confident artistry characteristic of early fourth-century Corinthian coinage. |
