Obverse description Nude figure of Herakles shown kneeling to the right in a dynamic pose, his right hand raised and wielding a club while his left hand holds a bow and quiver of arrows. The hero is depicted in the archaic style with careful attention to musculature. A tunny fish, the civic emblem of Kyzikos, appears beneath the figure, oriented to the right, serving as a mintmark characteristic of this series. The design is rendered in high relief on the irregular flan typical of early electrum coinage.
